Description
Lewiston, ME – The Maine Music Society is proud to present this year’s Battle of the Blends, celebrating 30 years of bringing together the area’s best a cappella groups for one magical night, on Saturday November 1st, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston. Join MMS’s own Artistic Director, Dr. Richard Nickerson, the evening’s emcee, for an evening celebrating the power of the human spirit through voice. This unique concert will keep you guessing what comes next, with music ranging from renaissance stables, Motown classics, and rock anthems to anything in between. In addition to many familiar faces, MMS is proud to once again be showcasing new groups on the battle stage from all over Maine, making the event even more special!
MMS Chamber Singers
The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers are all members of the Maine Music Society Chorale. They perform a cappella music from various genres, including early motets, folk songs, modern art songs, and pop music. Their performances are a staple at public events and local concert series, showcasing their versatility and talent.
Any Given Tuesday
Any Given Tuesday was formed when Toni Kasza, a vocal coach from Los Angeles, moved to Maine and missed her chorale back home. The group consists of two sisters, two mother-daughter pairs, and five other joyful songbirds who meet on Tuesday nights in Bath. They harmonize beautifully and bring a unique blend of voices to their performances.
The Crosstones
The Crosstones, Bates College's oldest all-gender a cappella group, have been performing both nationally and locally for over 20 years. Known for their down-to-earth nature, humor, and energy, they perform songs from all genres, ranging from Motown to pop to classic rock. Their engaging performances have made them a favorite on and off campus.
The Fairwinds
FairWinds Mixed Barbershop Chorus, started in 2019 by director Kathy Robitaille, is under the umbrella of the Nor'easters Barbershop Chorus. The group consists of 20 members who meet two Saturday mornings a month and enjoy singing together. Their repertoire includes well-known and beloved songs, bringing joy to their audiences.
Windham Chamber Singers
The Windham Chamber Singers gained international attention in 1996 by winning the Prize of Vienna at the 25th International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria. They have performed at major venues, including Carnegie Hall and the White House, and have been featured on national television. Their annual tours and public concerts continue to captivate audiences.
What a line-up! The 30th annual Battle of Blends is the perfect event for the entire family, and this year’s program promises to be one of the most exciting ones yet!
